About

Adam Alcántara lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. He uses the camera as a tool to face his fears and reinvent himself time and again.

His work has been exhibited at the Silver Eye Center for Photography, the City University of New York, and Texas Tech University. He has participated in residencies at the Cornell Image Text Workshop Residency, the Penumbra Foundation Risograph Print and Publication Residency, and the Yale Norfolk Summer School of Art. Adam is also the recipient of the 2022 Keystone Award from the Silver Eye Center for Photography. His book James, the River is held in the Muus Collection.

Adam is transgender.
